Ragged Mountain ... A Community Neighbor

Here is a brief list of some of the volunteer civic accomplishments our family has been committed to and proud of over the past 35 years...
  • Organized and personally directed over 550 area not-for-profit local races since 1982, including the Charlottesville Ten Miler (1984-1995) and the Charlottesville Women’s Four Miler (2000-present). These area races, thanks to the support of the entrants and fellow volunteers, have then been able to donate over three million dollars to a variety of local non-profits.
  • We have served as board members of several area not-for-profits including the Virginia Institute of Autism, The Charlottesville Track Club, MACAA, Camp Holiday Trails, The Haven, OAR, The Chamber of Commerce, The RTF, Meriwether-Lewis PTO, The Shelter For Help in Emergency The Olivet Church Session and more.
  • Corner Merchants Association Head (1994-1997).
  • Chamber of Commerce “Small Business Person of the Year” 1996.
  • Sunday School High School teachers (1991 to present).
  • Classroom Volunteer (for 15 years).
  • Helped design and oversee the development of the two mile cross country course at Towe Park and the quarter mile track at Meriwether Lewis Elementary School.
  • Member of President Casteen’s UVa Task Force on Alcohol Abuse (1998-1999).
  • Helped to organize over 100 high school cross country and track meets, including the Ragged Mountain Cup and the Dogwood Track Classic.
  • Volunteer running coach since 1980
  • Boys & Girls Club running coach volunteer

None of these volunteer opportunities and partnerships would have been possible without the support of you, our valued customers. Thanks!
