UVA: Third year Rohann Asfaw, who led the Hoos (ranked #20 nationally) to a win in their home opener with a 24:25 victory on Panorama Farms' brand new 8K course.

High School Boys: Junior Branden Wood, who is quietly having the best cross season a Louisa boy has had since legendary harrier Danny Kane way back in the early 2000s. Wood, who finished third on Saturday's Cavalier Classic at Panorama Farms in 16:01, also ran 10:00 for two miles at the season opening Ragged Mountain Cup. Both times he has finished behind only the double headed Western Albemarle juggernaut of Hawkes & Eliason.

High School Girls: Louisa senior Cierra Caicedo, whose 19:30 runner-up finish at the Cavalier Classic on Saturday reaffirmed her as one of the best runners in all of Virginia 4A (18th at the State XC meet in 2018).

    About Runners of the Week

Runners of the Week has been a Ragged Mountain family tradition since 1982. Each week we select a few individuals (although sometimes we will actually spotlight all of the members of a relay team, like we did when the Western Albemarle Boys DMR indoor squad won the National title in 2008 or an entire team, as we did when the UVa Women won the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships way back in the Winter of 1982) as our “Runners of the Week".

We select a representative from three categories:
Community Runner of the Week, High School Runner of the Week and a UVa Runner of the Week.
The names of these individuals and their remarkable accomplishments, whether they’re amazing times or an incredible personal improvement, are posted on two different display boards at the shop.

Every single Ragged Mountain Runner of the Week will be awarded a classic Ragged Mountain t-shirt (the same design we’ve been using since Neal Gropen designed our shirt when he was our next door business neighbor in 1982).
