112 West Market Street, Charlottesville
7-9:30am (free breakfast afterwards!)
Race Course Volunteers: The race course job is an easy, but very important one. We station our volunteers at every intersection along the route, ensuring runner safety (by slowing traffic, and just having a presence so people driving are aware there is a race going on), and we serve as directional signage as well (as the racers approach, we ensure they stay on course and don't take a wrong turn). Finally, we are cheering on the racers as they go by. We have uniformed police officers at ALL major intersections, we do not put any of our volunteers in harms way.We need 50 course volunteers (if we get enough volunteers, we can have some of the kids work in teams). Please encourage your friends and family to join us, it is a fun morning! The shift is 7am-9:30am for work, and there is a free, delicious breakfast back at the Haven after the race, as well as awarding the winners, and we have some raffle prizes as well. Race Director Mark Lorenzoni will hold a race course volunteer meeting at the Haven at 7:15am SHARP (this is really important), and then we send the volunteers out to their position at around 7:40 for an 8am race start. There are a lot of positions within a short walking distance of the Haven, Mark will identify those who drove that morning and put them at the positions a bit further away so they can drive, and place the non-driving teams closer to the Haven. Because of the early hour, parking isn't a problem downtown,
